311東北~若葉町~アジア
311Tohoku~Wakabacho~Asia





横浜市中区の中心で多文化地域である「若葉町」の周辺に住む外国籍の人々、とくに中国、タイ、韓国と同郷のアーティストを招聘し、地元のアーティストグループ「ART LAB OVA」が、若葉町の人々の協力のもとに運営するプロジェクトです。

まずは、アーティストたちに、横浜の状況を知ってもらった上で、東北に赴き、仙台、南三陸、女川、名取、いわきで、3・11の被害を受けた同郷人と話をしてもらいます。

その内容を持ち帰って、若葉町内の各国飲食店において母語で展示をします。

・期間 2012年7月~12月
    (各国アーティスト招聘期間は11月1日~11月18日)


【Overview】
Many people from countries such as China, Thailand, and Korea live around Wakabacho, which is located in Naka Ward of Yokohama City, an area renowned for its cultural diversity. We would like to invite artists from these countries to Japan to learn about the situation in Wakabacho, and to travel to the Tohoku region to meet people from their countries who were affected by the earthquake of 311. Once artists return to Wakabacho, we would like to organize a get together in restaurants that serve their respective local cuisines and to talk about what they experienced up north.

【Schedule】
July-December 2012

July:ART LAB OVA traveled to the Tohoku region in search of people from China, Thailand, and Korea who were afflicted by the earthquake, and asked for their cooperation. We will then select artists and asked for their collaboration.
Early November: We will invite 3 artists from each country to Yokohama. We will have a look around the town looking for the optimal venue/restaurant and hold meetings.
Early of November: We will all travel to the Tohoku region and listen to the stories of people from their home countries who experienced the earthquake.
Mid November: Return to Yokohama, hold meetings, artists produce artwork, and organize a get together in restaurants to talk about what they have seen.
End of November: Artists return home. The exhibition will continue for 2~3 weeks.

1964年、中国の広州に生まれ、ニューヨークや北京を拠点として活動中。
1990年"Big-Tail-Elephant”グループ創立。
1997年「移動する都市~都市の混沌と世界の変容―現在の東アジアの美術・建築・映像」展(ウィーン、ゼセッション館)および第2回ヨハネスブルグ・ビエンナーレ、1998年第1回台北ビエンナーレ、2002年第4回光州ビエンナーレ、2003年第50回ベニス・ビエンナーレ、2007年ドクメンタ12、2009年第10回リヨン・ビエンナーレに参加。
リン・イーリンのコンセプチュアル・アートは社会建築と日常生活が混在し、エネルギッシュで機知に富んでいる。
彫刻やインスタレーション、写真のライブアクション、屋外でのパフォーマンス映像などで高い評価を受けている。


Lin Yilin was born in Guangzhou in 1964, China, and lives and works in New York and Beijing.

He Co-founded of "Big-Tail-Elephant” Group in 1990 and has participated in Cities on the Move in 1997, the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in 1997, the 1st Taipei Biennale in 1998, the 4th Gwangju Biennale in 2002, the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, Documenta 12 in 2007 and 10th Lyon Biennale in 2009.

His works were showed in the Kunsthalle Bern, the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in New York, the Hayward Gallery in London, the Asia Society Museum in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.

Lin’s conceptual practices have always been an energetic and witty mingling of social architecture and everyday life.

He is recognized for a practice that embraces sculpture, installation, photography to live action and video featuring outdoor performances.
